THE BASICS You will
- Disconnect a round plug from the trunk lock actuator and connect it to the keyless system. (Picture # 1)
- Disconnect a round plug from the Mercedes Factory Alarm and connect it to the keyless system (Picture 2)
- If you choose, solder or wire-tap TWO wires, one to the taillight plug to flash the lights, and one to the power antenna for the power to flash the lights. (Not necessary to lock the car or control the factory alarm)
ACTUALLY DOING IT
To install you will need the following tools:
- 8mm wrench or pliers are necessary to remove two screws on the lock actuator.
- Small flat head screwdriver (Jewelers type), to remove plastic grommets in trunk/tailgate.
- Long-Nose pliers and Flash Light are handy, but not necessary.
- A Flat head screw driver is handy, but not necessary.
FIRSTLY, Disconnect the car battery, or remove fuse “C’ which controls the central locking.
300TE/TD Wagon Models: Remove the carpeted rear interior lining of the tailgate by first removing the rear window brake light assembly as if you were changing the light globe. The mount of the window brake light fixture remains in place. Un-screw (counter clock) the lock/unlock black button. Remove the plastic surround around the pull strap and door handle. Open the tailgate and on the underside, remove the nine small Philips head plastic screws. These screw into the center of expansion grommets, which you now pull out with a small screwdriver. Keep all the parts, 18 pieces in all. The carpeted rear panel is further secured with four pressure clips hidden from behind, which you pry off with a blunt butter knife or long screwdriver. Once you un-clip these four clips, push the lining in an upward direction and it will un-clip from the window.
Now that you have the rear interior panel removed, you will see the trunk lock mounted in the center, and off to one side, linked by a metal rod, is the “Actuator.’ The actuator has connected to it a vacuum line (possibly yellow) and an electrical cable connection via a round plug (usually clear color). You will be un-plugging this cable from the lock actuator and re-plugging it into the Aussie Keyless control box. The round plug is secured in place by a plastic security clip. (On newer models, there is no security clip and the plug is a black right angle 90-degree plug, as illustrated.) (Picture # 1)
On the opposite side of the tailgate you will see a similar round plug being held in place by a white retaining tube (see picture). This is the Alarm plug. DO NOT GET the two plugs confused, as the plugs are identical. It is a good Idea to write on each plug what it is i.e.: ALARM or CENTRAL LOCKING. (Picture # 2)
Start by removing the two 8 mm screws, which secure the lock actuator to the rear trunk/tailgate wall. (Leave the actuator in place). Now the actuator is loose and free to move around, you can un-plug the round plastic wiring plug from the actuator, There is a plastic security clip on the side of the actuator which holds the round wiring plug in place. You need to bend this clip back while trying to separate the round wire plug from the actuator. Pull on the plastic body of the plug. Do not pull by the wires, as you may break them. (If you break the security clip, it’s OK). Using long-nose pliers will make this process easier. You can also bend the security clip back with a long screwdriver.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you line up the Multi-Pin connector on the wire harness as you plug it into the control box.
Place the Keyless entry control box behind the wiper relay in the tailgate and secure it in place with a pull tie to the wiper relay. (Picture # 3.
Plug the CENTRAL LOCKING round plug from the Aussie Keyless control box into the round wire plug that was previously connected to the trunk lock actuator.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you line the two plugs up correctly as you connect them. There are two flat surfaces inside the plugs.

You also need to connect the thin BLACK negative cable from the keyless control box to the any of the metal screws, which secure the rear window wiper motor to the tailgate.
Re-mount the actuator on the rear tailgate wall with the 8 mm screws when finished and tighten screws.
The thick BLACK wire on the Keyless Control box is the antenna. Stretch it out straight along with the other wires that lead to the lock actuator.
Now test the central locking is working. (You can check your alarm later, but it is also working now !)
Re-connect the car battery, or re-install fuse # C and close the doors, trunk and hood.
Push the lock button on the remote control (Button # 1), and the car should centrally lock.
FINDER FUNCTION: By pushing the FINDER button #3 on the remote, the parking lights will illuminate and flash for 30 seconds to assist finding the car in a crowded parking lot at night.
TRUNK-POP FUNCTION: The BLUE / BLACK Stripe wire from the keyless control box is for a possible TRUNK-POP function. To operate, push the Un-lock button # 2 for three seconds. However Mercedes trunks don’t pop, so there’s no reason to install it, but if you have another use for it, you could use it. The BLUE wire sends a negative (-) control signal. You must use an external 12-Volt relay for this output.
USING YOUR CAR KEYS: If you LOCK or UN-LOCK the car with your mechanical key, you may have to push the UN-LOCK and then the LOCK buttons on the keyless remote to cycle the system, as it sometimes gets confused if you use the mechanical key.
If you ever have a problem with the system, remove the fuse “C” for 10 seconds and then re-install, or disconnect your car battery and re-connect. This will re-initiate the vacuum pump and keyless.
PROGARMMING ADDITIONAL REMOTES: Up to 6 remotes can be programmed on the Aussie Max Plus. To program additional remotes; open the Keyless control box by removing the four Philips head screws. On the PC board inside, move the BLACK jumper plug from it’s current position (P2) to the Programming Position (P1). (See illustration). The parking lights will flash once to indicate it is learning.Push the LOCK button on the remote control, and the remote is programmed. Re-position the Black jumper plug to its original position when done. Repeat the same procedure for each additional remote to be programmed.

PARKING LIGHT CONFIRMATION - for w124 TE/TD Station Wagon
As the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS Keyless system is self-powered and will control both remote locking and alarm activation without this Parking Light Confirmation feature, you may choose not to install it.
The AUSSIE MAX-PLUS parking light installation kit comes with a pre-configured wiring harness and 12-volt relay to install the “Parking Light Confirmation”.
Before proceeding with this installation ensure the following things are working:
- You have installed the Aussie Keyless entry control box, and that it is fully operational in locking and un-locking the car doors.
- The Parking Lights are working (test both Left and Right sides, front and back)
- The Power Antenna is working, (or at least is getting power, the antenna motor need not function)
All must be working before you proceed.
Note: Install this Parking Light feature, while you are installing the Keyless control box to save time.
Description of task
You will be making the Parking Lights flash by connecting the 12-volt relay to the tail light fixture, causing all four parking lights to illuminate. You will mount the relay on the back of the passenger side tail light fixture. From the relay, you will run a wire to the Power Antenna motor, where you will be taking a 12-volt constant power source, and another wire from the relay to the GREY Parking Light cable to illuminate the light flash.
Actually doing it
Disconnect the car battery after checking everything listed above works.
Open the rear-carpeted compartment on the passenger side, which covers the power antenna motor.

Disconnect the black 6-pin plug that is connected to the power antenna motor, then two inches from the plug, strip off one inch of the black sheath covering the cluster of wires (Picture 1B). Inside the sheath you will find two wires that are colored RED / YELLOW stripe, (both are equal). These wires are the constant 12-volt supply
(Note: In order to NOT tamper with the wiring harness in your car, you could solder directly to the back of the six-pin antenna motor plug, and Taillight Plug and not use the wiretap described below. Or install everything and drive to your local Auto-electrician and have them solder these two connections).
If you are using the wiretap, take the red plastic wiretap provided and place either one of the RED / YELLOW stripe wires going to the power antenna motor in the long wiretap channel. Now take the RED wire from the 12-volt relay provided, and place it in the only hole in the wiretap. Crush the wiretap pin closed with some pliers, and close the plastic cover. (The constant 12-volt is on pin #2 of the six-pin plug – Picture #1B. Note: Late models had a different antenna motor plug)
Next, un-plug the six-pin connector going to the passenger side taillight fixture. About two inches from the plug, strip off one inch of the black plastic sheath that covers the wire cluster and find the parking light wire, which is colored solid GREY.
Place the GREY parking light wire in the long channel of the wiretap provided, and the WHITE wire from the relay in the wiretap hole. Crush the wiretap closed with some pliers, and close the plastic cover over the pin. (If you can solder, you could solder directly to the back of the six-pin taillight plug and not use the wiretap. The GREY parking light wire is connected to Pin # 6 on the six-pin taillight plug - Picture #2B)

You will now interconnect the ORANGE wrie from the relay and the thin BLACK control wire as described below.
Start by feeding the end of the thin Black wire which has no plug, in through the rubber grommet on the passenger side (Picture #4B) through which passes the cable going to the heated rear window element. Feed the Black wire through the inside cavity of the tailgate and connect it to the BROWN wire coming from the Keyless control box.
Continue running the thin Black cable up the tailgate window, by hiding the wire under the rubber window seal (picture #5B). Continue the black wire around the plastic window surround, and hide it under the union of the two plastic panels. You may have to lift the union with a screwdriver. (Picture #6B).
Continue the Black wire to the tailgate hinge, and use the Pull-Ties provided to attach the Black wire to the rubber tube that carries the electrical cables to the tailgate. Ensure you leave a large loop of wire where the hinge meets the car body. (Picture # 7B). Test by closing the tailgate gently observing the Black wire is clear.
From the tailgate hinge, run the thin Back wire down the cavity inside the rubber door seal until it arrives at the passenger side taillight fixture. (Picture # 8B). (If you are worried this wire will pop out over time, you could put a dab of black silicon every 18 inches.)
Loosen the four nuts securing the rear tail light fixture and remove it. Feed the thin black wire in behind the tail light lens so the wire ends up inside the rear compartment. (Picture # 9). Place the small piece of rubber heat shrink insulation on the Black wire just where it passes behind the taillight.
Now plug the thin BLACK wire into the ORANGE wire from the relay.. (Both have connectors).
Finally, mount the relay upside down, on the upper left screw at the back of the taillight (Picture # 3B).
Close the doors, trunk and hood, and lock the car with the Remote. The Parking lights should flash once upon locking and flash once then illuminate for 15 seconds upon un-locking the car.
