THERE ARE SIMILAR SYSTEMS ON-LINE FOR ONLY $60 - Why?
.
You get what you pay for, so you should ask the other vendors the following questions:-
- Will their system simply Plug-In and start working immediately, just like you plug the coffee maker in the wall outlet ? .....(The Aussie will). ...... or will you need to splice or wiretap into your cars wiring harness, located behind the drivers side kick panel ?
- Will the keyless system be able to make confirmation sound chirps upon locking and un-locking the car, or does this require additional external components? (The Aussie will)
- Will you be able to install a Flashing LED security light which illuminates when the car is locked and alarmed ? (The Aussie will)
- Will their system need a constant 12-volt power source? (The Aussie doesn't)
- Will you need to get the wiring diagrams for your car. (The Aussie doesn't)
- Will you need to include two extra external relays to control the vacuum pump in additon to the Keyless control box because it's a Mercedes and uses a single wire control line? (The Aussie doesn't)
- Will you need to include an additional two more external relays to contol the factory alarm module because it's a Mercedes and uses a single wire control line? (That's a total of 4 external relays needed) (The Aussie doesn't)
- Will you need to drill holes to mount a lock motor (electro-magnetic door actuator) in the door, because you have a vacuum locking system as found in all Mercedes? (this is the other alternative method employed by some makers). (The Aussie doesn't)
- Do they suggest it's best a professional install their keyless system? (Aussie doesn't)
- Do they provide on-line, comprehensive install instructions with pictures for your exact model of Mercedes before you purchase?. There's a reason they don't, as installing their systems generally isn't simple. These other systems are generally not modified and designed specifically for your older model Benz, like the Aussie keyless system.
(Click on the install instructions for your Benz at the top of this page)
The reason the Aussie system cost more is I take one of these standard systems you can buy at your local auto store, or on-line and I modify the mother board and internal electronics converting it to Plug-and-Play for compatible Mercedes models. Addtionally,
This way with the Plug-and-Play modifications, you can simply open the trunk of your car, un-plug the lock actuator and re-plug it into the Aussie keyless control box, and drive away.
I suggest you don't get a professional installer, as there is simply no need and you'd be wasting your money !
The Aussie keyless is like plugging the coffee maker in the the wall outlet ... literally!.
To restore your car back to factory original, just un-plug the Aussie, and re-plug the control cable back into the lock actuator. This way you can always take the Aussie Keyless system with you to your next compatible Benz.
If you find a $60 keyless system that simply Plugs-In like the Aussie Keyless and includes internal sound confirmation chirps, and does not require you do any of the above listed items to install ....... Buy it!
